  • A Step-by-Step Guide to Making Your Dog an Instagram Star

Image by Pet Shot Studios Hey, dog parents! Are you considering creating an Instagram account for your pet but need help figuring out where to start? Or do you already have one and want to see it grow? I got you! I'm Calvin of @sweetlifeofcalvin, a model and pet influencer based in Los Angeles. Some common questions I receive are "How did you start?" and "How do I grow my dog's Instagram account?" Today, I'm excited to share my step-by-step guide to making your dog an Instagram stars. Step 1: Choose a Unique Instagram Handle Your handle is your dog's digital identity. It should be catchy, memorable, and reflect your dog's personality. Pick words that describe your dog or the content you plan to share. For instance, I'm @sweetlifeofcalvin because I offer glimpses into my sweet life - full of parties, yummy treats, and fun adventures. Avoid overly generic names. Aim for a handle that ensures you're the only result in a search. Keep the spelling straightforward to avoid confusion. Step 2: Select a High-Quality Profile Picture A high-quality picture can mean something other than a professional one. I understand not everyone has access to a professional camera or you might not be ready to splurge for a private photoshoot and that's okay. You can always start with clear, well-lit photos taken on your phone. Showcase your dog's personality, and opt for a simple background. I'm a fan of a good close-up shot! Step 3: Craft an Engaging Bio Your bio should be short yet informative. Share fun facts like your dog's breed, age, and unique traits. It should give a clear idea of what your page is about. Take my bio, for instance: I mention I'm a mini schnauzer and a petfluencer based in LA, so my followers know to expect schnauzer-related content and posts about dog events in Los Angeles. Remember to include relevant links like your website or promo codes. Step 4: Post High-Quality Photos Again, your phone can work wonders if you have no access to a professional camera. As a black dog, my human faces challenges capturing me indoors and outdoors without turning me into a blob. Good lighting is crucial. We often use natural light near our balcony. We prefer the soft light just after sunrise or before sunset for outdoor shots. Aim for clear photos. My human uses treats to keep me still and focused. A squeaky toy can also capture your dog's attention, sometimes resulting in adorable head tilts. Step 5: Create Engaging Captions Inject humor and engagement into your captions. Pose questions, narrate a story, or share content that reflects your account's essence. A smart strategy for maintaining follower interest is to focus on content that's already popular. For instance, I recently posted some "selfies" that were a big hit. Naturally, creating a follow-up post seemed like the perfect idea, this time revealing my step-by-step guide to capturing those irresistibly cute selfies. Additionally, Instagram's recent introduction of polls in captions presents a fantastic opportunity for increased engagement. This feature lets you directly interact with your audience, gather their opinions and preferences, boost engagement, and provide valuable insights into your followers' interests. Take advantage of this interactive tool to make your posts more engaging and tailored to your audience's tastes. Step 6: Be Consistent with Posting and Engagement Don't just post and disappear. Engage with your followers to build an online community. Responding to comments, especially in the early stages, is vital. Consistency is key in posting – aim for daily or at least 4-5 times a week.  Use Stories to stay active, sharing simple snapshots of your dog's daily life. It can be a photo of your dog sleeping, a video of your walk or playdate, or a sneak peek of your adventure. It is easy and requires no additional planning, especially on days you are not posting on your feed. Step 7: Have Fun Remember, building a successful dog Instagram account takes time and dedication. Enjoy the journey of creating content and deepening your bond with your dog. Document your adventures and cherish these memories. • Dog Horoscope 2025: Year of the Snake Predictions and Feng Shui Tips for Schnauzers

Photo by @mary_haber_pets with @baconthedoggers Welcome to 2025, the Year of the Snake! Snakes are known for their intelligence, mysterious charm, and ability to think deeply and solve problems. It sounds like the perfect spirit animal for the clever, determined, and oh-so-bossy Schnauzers, right? Whether your Schnauzer is mini, standard or giant, this year promises intrigue, growth, and plenty of schnauzertude. Let's dive into our 2025 dog horoscope and see what the Year of the Snake holds for your Schnauzer in health, love, petfluencer goals, and more, while also sharing feng shui tips to maximize your pup's luck, charm and treat count. Schnauzer Traits by Size Mini Schnauzers : The cheekiest of the pack, minis are known for their big barks and even bigger personalities. They're masters of manipulation with those puppy eyes and are always ready to outsmart their humans for an extra treat. Standard Schnauzers : The level-headed thinkers of the Schnauzer family, standards balance smarts with loyalty. They're problem-solvers and tend to be the most grounded in their schnauzer sass. Giant Schnauzers : Majestic and commanding, giants are the ultimate protectors. They take their jobs seriously. Whether it's guarding the house or being the pack leader, their stubborn streak comes with a touch of grandeur. Here's our 2025 Dog Horoscope for the Year of the Snake : Schnauzer Edition Health Predictions The Year of the Snake is all about thoughtful decisions and staying ahead. For Schnauzers, this means paying close attention to their unique needs: Mini Schnauzers : Keep an eye on dental health and weight management. Their love of treats might make their tummies (and waistlines) a little rounder. Make sure to stock up on dental chews, chicken flavored toothpaste, and regular grooming sessions to keep them looking fabulous. Standard Schnauzers : Regular exercise is key! Whether it's hikes or agility games, keep their minds and bodies active to prevent boredom which can result in mischievous destruction. Giant Schnauzers : Joint health is a focus this year. Invest in comfy bedding, joint supplements, and low-impact activities to keep them moving with ease. Feng Shui Tip : Invest in an orthopedic dog bed because they deserve only the best. Place your Schnauzer's bed in a quiet, well-lit area of the home to ensure restful energy and relaxation. Add a splash of green nearby, like a dog-safe plant, for healing and positive vibes. The LA Schnauzer Crew with friends from San Diego, Tucson and Canada! Love and Relationships 2025 is the year of connection for Schnauzers, making it the perfect time to expand your pup's social circle. Single Schnauzers : Encourage your pup to attend schnauzer meetups. In 2024, we have seen so many meetups happening across the US and we expect the community to grow even bigger this year. From the annual Schnauzerfest Rome with over 500 schnauzer attendees to LA's Schnauzer meetup closely following with over 250 schnauzers in attendance hosted by my good friend @simonsaysschnauzer , there are plenty of opportunities to mingle and let your pup bark its head off without worrying someone will judge you. But don't stop there. Many businesses organize dog-friendly activities and events, which is another perfect opportunity to meet new friends. Check out my calendar for recommended events if you're in Los Angeles.  Schnauzers in a Pack : Strengthen bonds by organizing group activities like hikes, pack walks, beach day playdates, or hitting the agility course. This year is all about unity and teamwork, so celebrate the pack mentality! Feng Shui Tip : Use red accessories like collars or bandanas to symbolize love and strong relationships. Not to mention, it's a great color to capture everyone's attention. With my niece @matcha.schnauzer at Pawsitive Mgmt's Lunar New Year Event Career & Petfluencer Goals For schnauzers looking to level up their petfluencer game, 2025 is the  year to shine. Show your schnauzertude: Be unapologetic and show us those tantrums and howls that'll match the sound of sirens, thieving activities, and nonstop barking. Keep it stylish: Showcase those brows on fleek, lush lashes, and majestic beards. I may not have a traditional haircut that rivals a show dog, but I'm always proud to showcase a white beard and fluffy cut. Engage online: Post frequently and interact with your audience. Show some love to other accounts and see that friendship grow in real life. Yes, we met many of our good friends through Instagram and TikTok.  Talent Spotlight: Whether it's tricks, comedy skits, or modeling, this year rewards creativity and charm. Petfluencer Pro Tip : Keep it real and be consistent. If you are looking into starting your petfluencer journey but don't know where to start, check my Petfluencer Guide here .  Feng Shui Tip : Add gold accents or accessories to your pup's wardrobe to symbolize success and wealth. Lunar New Year Snack Pack by @pawmentality Lucky Foods Chicken Jerky  – Chicken symbolizes prosperity and strength. Toss your Schnauzer a piece of chicken jerky to start their day on a good note and avoid tantrums throughout the day. Golden Sweet Potatoes  – Sweet potatoes represent grounding energy and wealth. Plus, they’re paw-sitively delicious in every form—crispy chips or chewy stick fries. Salmon Snacks  – Fish signifies abundance and health. Treat your Schnauzer to some salmon jerky or toppers to keep their coat shiny and their luck flowing. You might not be a fan of fishy breath, but your Schnauzer would love you for it, so be ready for sloppy, stinky thank-you kisses. Lucky Colors, Numbers, and Energy Lucky Colors : Red, green, and gold—representing passion, growth, and prosperity. Lucky Numbers : 2, 5, and 8. Always remember this for treat counts. Lucky Elements : Wood and earth. Incorporate natural elements like wooden toys or earthy tones in their accessories. Unlucky Omens to Avoid Chewing on Shoes  – While your Schnauzer might think this is hilarious, it’s a no-no in feng shui. Shoes symbolize journeys and progress, so chewing them might disrupt forward momentum. Teach your Schanuzer to stick to chew toys instead. Empty Treat Jar  – An empty treat jar? Bad vibes! Always keep it stocked to ensure abundance and joy for your pup. Schnauzers are smart and they will hold that against you. Messy Beards  – In the Year of the Snake, untamed beards can symbolize chaos (and not the fun kind). Keep that schnauzer beard trimmed and clean. Chinatown Central Plaza, Los Angeles Tips for Making 2025 Pawsome Flaunt that Schnauzertude : Whether your Schnauzer is bossy, clingy, or overly dramatic, embrace their personality and let them shine. Keep Adventures Fresh : Rotate between your pup's favorite activities—hikes, sniffaris, or car rides to their favorite pup patty and puppuccino spot—to keep them engaged. Celebrate Milestones : From gotcha days to petfluencer milestones, every moment is worth celebrating this year.  Stay Connected : Build relationships online and offline. My human found all her crazy dog mom friends online, and you should see them in the wild. It's pretty fascinating.  Feng Shui Tip : Place a mirror near your pup's favorite lounging spot. In feng shui, mirrors symbolize clarity and amplify positive energy. Plus, we schnauzers act like we are better than everyone, so we would absolutely love a spot where we can admire our fabulous selves.  The Year of the Snake is full of thoughtful decisions and deep connections—an ideal year for Schnauzers to channel their cleverness and charm. Whether mastering a new trick, stealing hearts on social media, or simply snuggling up on the couch to score belly rubs, Schnauzers are poised for a year of success, love, and lots of tail wags. Happy New Year! 🐍 Remember, life with a Schnauzer is never boring, and this year is all about making those memories count. Share your 2025 adventures with me on Instagram @sweetlifeofcalvin —I can't wait to see what your Schnauzer accomplishes this year! Here's to a year filled with love, laughter, and lots of schnauzer sass.

  • Emergency Pet Preparedness: How to Create a Go Bag for Your Dog

Our emergency bag from Anheuser Busch Hey there, dog parents! The recent wildfires in Los Angeles have been a harsh reminder of how quickly life can change. While I like to keep things light, this topic is close to my heart. Last week when the skies turned orange and the air smelled different, I posted my emergency bag on Instagram , and many of you asked about it so follow my lead as I share everything I know about creating a go bag for your furry best friend. Emergencies, whether wildfires, earthquakes, or unexpected events, can happen when we least expect them. While we hope you never have to use it, having a go bag ready is one of the best ways to protect your pup and give yourself peace of mind. Let’s dive into what an emergency pet safety preparedness go bag is, why it matters, and how you can create one tailored to your dog’s needs. What Is an Emergency Pet Preparedness Go Bag and Why Do You Need One? A pet safety preparedness go bag is your pup’s ultimate survival kit. It’s a pre-packed bag filled with essential items to grab immediately if you need to evacuate. In an emergency, every second counts, and having everything ready ensures your pet has what they need to stay safe and comfortable. My go bag was part of Anheuser Busch's National Preparedness Month campaign with the American Humane and American Red Cross. Click here to learn more about it. Go Bag Essentials for Your Pet Here’s what I currently keep in my go bag to stay prepared: Food for 3 Days + Treats No pup should face an emergency on an empty stomach, and treats keep morale high. Water Hydration is key! You can also pack a can / bottle of dog beer. Extra Collar, Harness & Leash (with poop bag attachment) Spares are a lifesaver if something gets damaged or misplaced. Collapsible Bowls Compact and convenient for meals and water breaks on the go. This is the bowl I use for day trips, hikes and when travelling. Lightweight, packable dog bowl from Ruffwear Medications Pack any daily meds, and for a senior pup like me, I make sure I have my joint supplements and allergy chews in there, too. First Aid Kit Include gauze, antiseptic wipes, and pet-safe bandages. You can also purchase pre-packed first aid kits.  First aid kit for dogs Cat emergency kit Blanket or Towel Great for warmth, comfort, or quick cleanups. If you have a puppy or a senior pup, include a few pee pads and diapers. Photos A photo of your pet and a photo with your pet are important for identification. Yes, you have thousands of photos of your pet on your phone but in case of a disaster, there's a chance your phone gets damaged or run out of battery so it's always a good idea to have printed copies in your go bag. Toy, Chew Stick, or a sock if that’s your pup’s favorite Bring something comforting or entertaining for your pup. In my case, that’s a squeaky ball. Pet Identification, Medical Records, and Your Vet’s Information Keep everything in a waterproof bag and ensure it’s up to date. This list reflects what works for me, but every pup is unique. Consult your vet to tailor the kit to your pet’s specific needs, especially if they have dietary restrictions or medical conditions. Why It's Important to Be Prepared We all hope emergencies never happen, but life is unpredictable. Preparing a go bag for your pet isn’t just about planning—it’s about showing love and care when it matters most. Together, we can stay safe, support each other, and wag our tails through any storm. How You Can Help Pets Affected by the LA Wildfires The wildfires have left many pets injured, displaced, or in shelters. If you’re looking for ways to make a difference, here’s how you can help: Donate:  Supplies or monetary contributions to local rescues and shelters. I am personally fundraising for Pasadena Humane , reaching 94% of my goal as of writing. Your donation will help cover the medical care of injured pets and wildlife affected by the Eaton Fire in Pasadena. Click here to help me reach my goal. Volunteer:  Help out at donation centers or rescue efforts. Foster:  Open your home to a pet in need, even temporarily. The outpouring of kindness and support during these times has been incredible. From donations to volunteering, our community has shown up in ways that inspire hope. Together, we’ve proven the strength of compassion and unity. Let’s continue to show up for one another and for the pets who need us most. Stay safe, stay prepared, and stay strong, LA! P.S. If you’ve created your own go bag, I’d love to see it! Share it with me on Instagram @sweetlifeofcalvin , and let’s inspire others to prepare too .

  • Dog Zodiac Guide: Personality, Strengths & 2025 Predictions for Schnauzers

Photo by Animalia by Ti Chu with @clementine_the_mini_schnauzer Ever wonder why your schnauzer has that level of sass, endless energy, or the ability to manipulate you into giving them just one more treat? Turns out, the stars might have something to do with it! Whether your pup is a bossy Aries, a sensitive Cancer, or a charming Libra, your dog's zodiac sign can reveal insights into their schnauzer personality, strengths, and luck for 2025. This year, some schnauzers will shine in their petfluencer careers, some will have an exciting year of adventures, and others… well, let's just say they may need to work on their tantrums and attitude. So leash up and get ready—because the cosmos has spoken, and schnauzertude is written in the stars.  ♈ Aries Schnauzer (March 21 – April 19) The Fearless Leader Aries schnauzers are born trailblazers. Confident, energetic, and always eager to take the lead, these pups thrive on action and excitement. If there's a new hiking trail, a new bag of treats to taste-test, or a squirrel to chase, an Aries schnauzer will be first in line. Opportunities:  2025 brings adventure! Expect new trails, social outings, and challenges that will push their energy to the max. This is their year to become the leader of their pack or social group. Challenges:  Patience is not their strong suit. Expect a dramatic tantrum if things don't go their way (cue the howling protest). It will be key to teach them impulse control like waiting before devouring treats. Strengths:  Bold, independent, always ready for an adventure. Weaknesses:  Bossy, impatient, and easily frustrated when ignored. Best Schnauzer Matches:  Leo for their shared confidence and drive, or Libra to help balance out their fiery energy. Schnauzer Motto:  "I will be first. No discussion needed." ♉ Taurus Schnauzer (April 20 – May 20) The Treat Connoisseur If Taurus schnauzers could talk, they'd demand a five-star meal service with extra belly rubs. These pups love luxury—cozy blankets, gourmet treats, and a schedule that must include naps. Opportunities:  2025 is a year of comfort and indulgence. If you've been thinking of upgrading into an orthopedic dog bed or buying only single-ingredient treats, this is the year to do it. Challenges:  Their stubborn streak will be at an all-time high. If a Taurus schnauzer doesn't want to go on a walk? Good luck moving them. Strengths:  Loyal, patient, and full of love. Weaknesses:  Stubborn, lazy, and overly attached to routine. Best Schnauzer Matches:  Cancer for cozy companionship, or Capricorn for a pup who'll keep them in check. Schnauzer Motto:  "I refuse to move until you give me that treat." ♊ Gemini Schnauzer (May 21 – June 20) The Social Butterfly The chattiest of the schnauzer zodiac, Gemini pups bark at everything—not to be aggressive, but just to keep the conversation going. They love meeting new friends, hopping from one toy to another, and keeping their humans entertained. Opportunities:  2025 is a fantastic year for networking—expect more playdates, meetups, and even possible fame on social media. This is the schnauzer who thrives as a petfluencer! Challenges:  They get bored fast. One moment, they love their squeaky toy, the next, they're digging through your laundry pile for a sock to chew. Keeping them engaged is a full-time job. Strengths:  Playful, curious, and incredibly smart. Weaknesses:  Short attention span, restless, and easily distracted. Best Schnauzer Matches:  Aquarius for mutual fun and weirdness, or Sagittarius for endless adventure. Schnauzer Motto:  "I have to tell you everything that's happening. Right now." ♋ Cancer Schnauzer (June 21 – July 22) The Sensitive Snuggler Cancer schnauzers are all about feelings. They are deeply attached to their humans and will follow them everywhere. Expect cuddles, soulful gazes, and dramatic reactions if they're ever left alone. Opportunities:  2025 is a year of bonding! This is the best time to strengthen your connection with them through training, cuddles, or lazy Sunday snuggle sessions. Challenges:  They take everything personally. Didn't let them sit on your lap? They'll sulk for hours. Strengths:  Loyal, affectionate, and deeply connected to their humans. Weaknesses:  Clingy, overdramatic, and prone to separation anxiety. Best Schnauzer Matches:  Taurus for security, or Pisces for emotional depth. Schnauzer Motto:  "Why would you ever leave me alone? Ever?" ♌ Leo Schnauzer (July 23 – August 22) The Schnauzer Royalty Leo schnauzers demand attention. Whether it's strutting into the dog park like they own the place or posing for a photoshoot, these pups know they're fabulous. Opportunities:  2025 is their year to shine—literally. More photoshoots, new accessories, and viral-worthy moments are ahead. Challenges:  Their ego is out of control. If they don't get attention, expect pouting. Strengths:  Confident, magnetic, and full of schnauzertude. Weaknesses:  Dramatic, stubborn, and easily offended. Best Schnauzer Matches:  Aries for high-energy companionship, or Libra to keep their attitude in check. Schnauzer Motto:  "Look at me. No, really—LOOK at me." ♍ Virgo Schnauzer (August 23 – September 22) The Perfectionist Pup Virgo schnauzers are highly detail-oriented. They like their toys in the right place, their beards immaculate, and their routine uninterrupted. Opportunities:  2025 is an excellent year for structured activities—trick training, nose work, and competitive sports. Challenges:  They hate mess. A spilled water bowl or tangled leash will ruin their day. Strengths:  Smart, methodical, and disciplined. Weaknesses:  Perfectionist to a fault and easily frustrated. Best Schnauzer Matches:  Taurus for stability or Capricorn for their shared sense of order. Schnauzer Motto:  "If it's not exactly right, it's completely wrong." Photo by Animalia by Ti Chu with @clementine_the_mini_schnauzer ♎ Libra Schnauzer (September 23 – October 22) The Charming Diplomat Libra schnauzers are natural peacemakers—when they're not causing mischief. They love balance, fairness, and ensuring everyone gives them the attention they deserve. If there's a scuffle at the dog park, a Libra schnauzer will either step in to break it up or use the distraction to steal a treat. Opportunities:  2025 is a year of connection! Expect to meet new friends (both pups and humans) and strengthen bonds with their favorite humans. Challenges:  Indecision. They can't pick between their favorite toy, bed, or even which human lap to sit on, leading to dramatic sighs and prolonged staring contests. Strengths:  Friendly, affectionate, and highly social. Weaknesses:  Attention-seeking, indecisive, and prone to sulking if ignored. Best Schnauzer Matches:  Leo for fun adventures, or Gemini for endless barking conversations. Schnauzer Motto:  "I love everyone—but also, please fight for my attention." ♏ Scorpio Schnauzer (October 23 – November 21) The Mysterious Genius Scorpio schnauzers are deep thinkers, highly intuitive, and probably three steps ahead of you at all times. They know exactly where you hide the good treats, how to manipulate you into belly rubs, and which human is the weakest link when it comes to giving extra snacks. Opportunities:  2025 is their year to finally execute long-term plans—like sneaking onto the forbidden couch or staging a jailbreak when the front door is open for precisely 0.5 seconds. Challenges:  Trust issues. They'll hold grudges like when you left them home alone and side-eye you forever if you betray them like forgetting their bedtime treat. Strengths:  Clever, intuitive, and fiercely loyal. Weaknesses:  Suspicious, dramatic, and easily offended. Best Schnauzer Matches:  Pisces for emotional depth, or Capricorn for strategic partnership. Schnauzer Motto:  "I already know what you're going to do—don't even try it." ♐ Sagittarius Schnauzer (November 22 – December 21) The Adventurer Sagittarius schnauzers have zero chill. They are the first to bolt out the door, zoomies are a daily occurrence, and they must investigate every single smell in the world. These pups are always up for a road trip, a new trail, or any excuse to be outside. Opportunities:  2025 is a year of travel and new experiences! If you're thinking about taking your schnauzer on a vacation, camping trip, or beach day—this is their year. Challenges:  They cannot sit still. Training them to pause before running full-speed into the next adventure will be a significant focus. Strengths:  Adventurous, optimistic, and full of boundless energy. Weaknesses:  Restless, impulsive, and impossible to catch when they escape. Best Schnauzer Matches:  Aries for their shared love of action, or Aquarius for fun and unpredictability. Schnauzer Motto:  "Let’s GO. Where? Doesn't matter—just GO!" ♑ Capricorn Schnauzer (December 22 – January 19) The Determined CEO Capricorn schnauzers are all business. They take their roles very seriously—whether it's guarding the house, herding humans, or enforcing snack schedules. If you're one minute late feeding them, expect barking and judgmental side eyes. Opportunities:  2025 is an excellent year for structured activities—advanced training, agility courses, or even learning a new trick as long as it comes with proper compensation. Challenges:  They do not tolerate nonsense. If another pup is acting foolish, they will supervise with extreme disapproval. Strengths:  Disciplined, hardworking, and fiercely protective. Weaknesses:  Overly serious, bossy, and sometimes a little too independent. Best Schnauzer Matches:  Virgo for their shared work ethic, or Scorpio for strategic power moves. Schnauzer Motto:  "Stay focused. We have goals to accomplish." ♒ Aquarius Schnauzer (January 20 – February 18) The Eccentric Genius Aquarius schnauzers are the weirdos of the group—and proud of it. They have quirks that make them unique, whether it's an obsession with a specific sock, barking at nothing, or demanding belly rubs in the middle of the street. Opportunities:  2025 is the year to embrace their uniqueness! Whether it's a viral video, a quirky new trick, or making unexpected new friends, this year is full of surprises. Challenges:  Zero predictability. Will they cuddle today or ignore you completely? No one knows. Strengths:  Independent, creative, and always entertaining. Weaknesses:  Unpredictable, stubborn, and completely unbothered by rules. Best Schnauzer Matches:  Gemini for endless fun, or Sagittarius for a chaotic adventure. Schnauzer Motto:  "I do what I want when I want. Deal with it." ♓ Pisces Schnauzer (February 19 – March 20) The Dreamer Pisces schnauzers are soft-hearted, emotional, and prone to extreme levels of drama. If they feel even slightly ignored, expect lots of pawing and sad puppy eyes until you properly give them the love and attention they deserve. Opportunities:  2025 is all about creativity! This is the year if you've ever wanted to get your schnauzer into pet modeling, painting paw prints, or just becoming more of an emotional support pup. Challenges:  They absorb energy—if you're stressed, they're stressed. Keeping a calm and happy environment is key. Strengths:  Compassionate, affectionate, and deeply intuitive. Weaknesses:  Moody, overly sensitive, and easily overwhelmed. Best Schnauzer Matches:  Cancer for emotional bonding, or Scorpio for deep understanding. Schnauzer Motto:  "I feel everything. Love me accordingly." Happy New Year! 🧧🐍 What’s Your Dog's Zodiac Sign? Did Our 2025 Prediction Matched Your Schnauzer? • Fashion Style Guide for Pets this Holiday Season

Hey there, festive dog parents! Did I mention I'm not just a cute pup but also a fashionable one? I have been sharing pet-friendly activities and events in LA this holiday season, so I'd like to ensure your pup will look their best when you visit those places or meet Santa Paws. As a pup who loves dressing up, I'll share my top picks to make sure your pup looks festive no matter your budget or their tolerance for Christmas outfits. Ready to help your pup steal the spotlight this holiday season? Follow my lead! (Full transparency here—some of the links in this blog are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you purchase through them. This helps support my treat fund at no additional cost to you!) Luxury Looks If your pup's style leans more toward "red carpet ready," splurge on these Maxbone  sweaters. Perfect for fashionista pups, these high-quality knits come in neutral tones and festive patterns that scream elegance. Their iconic fuzzy Christian Cowan x Maxbone Jumper gets a luxe makeover this holiday season. The combination of feather and shimmer details gives your pup that glam look for the holidays, and the elegance it exudes is all your pup needs to take over the fashion world. Classic Holiday Looks Anthropologie's pet sweaters bring the holiday spirit to life with their trendy and chic designs. Think Christmas trees and 3D round peppermint candies for a cozy and festive look. These high-quality sweaters are perfect for family photos and photo sessions for your holiday cards. For a more modern yet timeless holiday look, Foggy Dog is the way to go. It features a candy cane design, a cool retro ski-inspired sweater, and other subtle festive patterns, perfect for pups who prefer understated elegance. A great combination of style and practicality, Fuzzyard offers basic cable knit sweaters your pup can wear even after the holidays. If you want that extra festive, their Santa Button Down shirts will absolutely make your pup look dapper amongst his friends. Budget-Friendly Finds Looking festive doesn't have to break the bank. Amazon is full of budget-friendly holiday sweaters, ranging from traditional fair isle patterns to funny, festive designs. They're cozy, adorable, and perfect for pups wanting to get into the holiday spirit without racking up the credit card bill—or would prefer you spend that money on treats. Photo by : Mary Haber Pets Photo by : Pet Shot Studios Unique and Handmade Finds A festive bandana is a great way to add a holiday touch if your pup isn't into wearing clothes. Trust me, I used to freeze when I wore clothes. It started off as funny until it concerned my human when I did not move for minutes, and then I started "melting" to the ground. Etsy shops offer customizable bandanas with everything from "Santa's Little Helper" to your pup's name printed on them. For those who love bandanas but are not fans of looking basic, check out Maggie & Co . With feather trims, sequins, and pearls, your pup will surely turn heads without compromising comfort. Limited Production Holiday Shirts and Accessories Designed by my good friend Bacon, The Bacon Collection is often worn by your fashionista petfluencers. This is not so surprising since Bacon is one of the most fashionable pups I know. His holiday shirts feature tinsel-like fabrics, gold sequins, and fuzzy shirts. Aside from the unique prints and fabrics, only a handful of these are produced, making sure your pup will always sport a unique piece. Photo by : Animalia by Ti Chu Another brand I highly recommend is Ice Cream Studio . Best known for their costumes and elaborate outfits, their holiday collection will surely dress your pup from head to paw in style. It is perfect for girl pups who want to sparkle at any holiday party. Minimalist Holiday Touches Swap your pup's everyday walk set for a holiday-themed collar/harness. This harness from Furry Muse would make your pup look like the cutest present wrapped in a bow under the tree. Bonus points if it matches their leash! Holiday Accessories A classic Santa hat or reindeer antlers are easy ways to add holiday flair. One of my favorite accessories you'd often see me wearing is my antlers. I wasn't much of a fan initially, so don't be surprised if your pup decides they'd rather wear them for 10 seconds max. As time passed, I got used to it. Plus, I always get a lot of smiles and treats when I pose with it, so it has become my trusted accessory. It's currently 50% off at Healthy Spot 's Pawliday Sale. Photo by : Pet Shot Studios Additional Pet Fashion Tips for Dressing Up This Holiday Season Comfort First:  Make sure whatever you choose fits well and isn't too tight or restrictive. Always refer to the sizing guide and measure your pup's neck and chest before placing an order. If you are in between sizes, always size up. Ease Them In:  If your pup isn't used to wearing clothes, start small with a bandana or festive accessory before moving to complete outfits. I used to freeze when I wore a shirt, so it definitely took some time and lots of treats before I got comfortable. Accessorize Wisely:  Avoid items with small, loose pieces that your pup might chew on. I once removed the pom poms out of a sweater because I thought it was a ball that I could play with. I was a pup then and was very curious, so I always keep an eye out for those little ones. I would probably do it again now. This time, it's because it's tacky, and I would not be caught wearing an ugly sweater. Stay Festive & Safe:  Keep an eye on them to make sure they're comfortable and happy while rocking their holiday look. Here's a secret, I don't wear a sweater at home. I like being au naturel. I only wear my sweaters for photos and an hour or two at an event. I am comfortable wearing them, but I always prefer showing my fit body. After all, I did not just lose 3 lbs to hide it under a sweater. Whether your pup is strutting in luxury sweaters, donning a fully customized bandana, or rocking an antler headband, dressing up for the holidays is about having fun and creating memories. Snap lots of photos, and tag me on Instagram   @sweetlifeofcalvin —I’d love to see your pups' adorable and fashionable looks this holiday season! • Fun Holiday Photo Ideas with Your Dog

Hey, dog parents! Ever wonder why Christmas is my favorite holiday? Beyond the gifts and festivities, it's the perfect time for me to don my cutest outfits and become the star of the holiday.  If you want to send out awesome holiday cards with your dog, share cute photos online, or make special memories, here are some fun ideas for you to try. 1. Santa Paws The season of giving calls for spreading love with a touch of cuteness. Embrace the season's spirit by transforming your dog into the most adorable Santa Paws. Dressing up your dog as Santa Paws is a timeless choice that never fails to charm. If your dog is on the larger side or prefers not to dress up, a Santa hat offers a simple yet equally adorable alternative.  2. Winter Wonderland Nothing says holiday spirit like a playful photo in the snow. Put on a sweater or scarf for that perfect winter wonderland vibe. If you're like me and don't have snow where you live, you can book a winter-themed photo session to fake that snowy scene — it's all about creativity! 3. Cozy by the Fireplace There's something special about the cozy, snug sensation of sitting by the fireplace during winter. Capture this warmth by photographing your dog curled up near the fireplace. Always prioritize safety by keeping your dog at a safe distance and under close supervision. 4. Under the Mistletoe Bring tradition to life by placing your dog under the mistletoe. It's fun to incorporate classic holiday decor with a very irresistibly cute twist. Now, who's ready for some kisses?    5. Fun with Ornaments A dog posing by an ornamented tree is sweet, but capturing them playing with ornaments? Even better. Scatter shatterproof ornaments for a safe playtime photo op. If your dog loves to toss things, it is best to skip this idea. 6. Christmas Lights Dogs entwined in Christmas lights can make for a mesmerizing photo, but safety first! Ensure the lights are cool to the touch and your dog is monitored to prevent any chewing. I chose to pose next to some big, decorative bulbs for a whimsical effect without the risk. 7. Santa's Workshop Gather your dog's friends for a group photo dressed as elves. My friend @amazinggraciedoodle organized a session at Santa's Workshop, proving we're all on the nice list this year. Just ask Santa himself. Despite the hustle and bustle of the season, these festive moments will remind you what the holidays are truly about: joy, togetherness, and making memories. I hope these ideas inspire you to capture the holiday spirit with your pup. If you found this article helpful, subscribe to my newsletter for more paw-fessional tips. • Dog-Friendly Halloween Events in Los Angeles

Are you ready to unleash the Halloween spirit with your furry best friend? Well, you're in for a treat, not a trick! Grab your pup's favorite costume because I have scoped out the best dog-friendly Halloween events in LA. 1. Yappy Hour Halloween Parties Every year, I attend Spot's Spooktacular hosted by Healthy Spot. There's music, food, and drinks for the humans to enjoy while the pups get wasted on the treat buffet and puptail bar. Last year, I even got a skull tattoo after a few pawgaritas! 2. Pup-kin Patch Adventures Yes, there are plenty of pet-friendly farms within an hour from LA, but if you want to stay within LA, a great alternative is Citadel Outlets' Big Jack, L.A.'s largest Jack-O-lantern. You will also get a chance to win a $500 Citadel Gift Card when you take a selfie with Big Jack and post it to your Instagram account. 3. Haunted Dog Park Playdate Gather your pup's crew and head to a dog-friendly park like Sepulveda Basin Off-Leash Dog Park for a bewitching playdate. Last year, I attended a Schnauzer Halloween meet-up and I tell you, there's nothing cuter than seeing over 100 schnauzers in costumes. This year's meetup is on October 29th from 10:00 am - 12:00 at Sepulveda Basin Off-Leash Dog Park. Follow @ simonsaysschnauzer on Instagram for more info. 4. Howl-O-Ween Movie Night Rooftop Cinema Club offers dog-friendly "Wooftop" events! For October, enjoy classics like Hocus Pocus and Edward Scissorhands while you cuddle up with your furry friend sharing a bag of popcorn. 5. Spooky Hikes Explore LA's pet-friendly hiking trails in costume! Runyon Canyon and Griffith Park are excellent options for a Halloween hike. 6. Doggy Halloween Parade Join the Howl' O Ween Costume Contest & Pawrade at Runway Playa Vista. Be prepared to see the cutest and most creative costumes. My friend Bailey @duchess_bailey dressed up as a fortune teller with her mom and won last year's contest. 7. Bark or Treat at Home Sometimes, the human and I prefer being comfy in our pajamas at home. If that's also your jam, I highly recommend ordering a pack of Halloween goodies from Paw Mentality. Enjoy a plate of mummies and beef-filled coffin treats while you watch your favorite Halloween movie in the comfort of your couch. With these Halloween ideas, you and your pup are sure to have a howling good time this spooky season! Have a howling good time! Calvin 🐾
