Looking for a way to enjoy the weekend while staying local and supporting small businesses? I've sniffed out the best dog-friendly farmers markets and flea markets in Los Angeles where you can grab fresh produce, shop local vendors and bring your pup along for one of the best dog-friendly outdoor experiences and sniffaris in the city.
Whether you're looking to stock up on farm-fresh veggies or hunt for vintage treasures, these open-air markets in Los Angeles offer something for everyone and most importantly, allow our cute faces to roam and soak up all the love. If your pup is a pro like me, they'll even get lots of head scratches from strangers. So, leash up and follow my lead!
Dog-Friendly Farmers Markets in Los Angeles
📍 6333 W 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90036
Monday - Friday : 9 AM - 9 PM
Saturday : 10 AM - 9 PM
Sunday : 10 AM - 7 PM
An LA landmark since 1934, The Original Farmers Market features over 100 vendors, restaurants, and specialty shops. Dogs are welcome in outdoor dining areas and walkways and the best part? They even have a Dog Bakery! I never leave without getting my munchkins and carrot cake treats.
📍 1245 N Spring St, Los Angeles, CA 90012
Every Thursday : 3 - 7:30 PM
This one is a gray area and not only because some colors appear gray-ish to me. Because this is a smaller market located at the entrance of the Los Angeles State Historic Park, pups like us are allowed as we enter and exit the park. It offers farm-fresh produce, artisanal snacks, plants and handmade products.
In the summer, I love saying hi to produce vendors for the free berries while the human gets a pistachio croissant from Le Saint Honoré or a sea salt choc chip cookie from Mud Cookies before we proceed to sit and people-watch in the park.
The Ultimate Guide to Dog-Friendly Flea Markets in Los Angeles
📍 7850 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
Every Sunday : 10 AM - 6 PM
Held every Sunday at Fairfax High School, this trendy market is a hotspot for vintage fashion, handmade goods, and delicious food trucks. I always enjoy sniffing everything but please be extra careful as many breakable and delicate items are displayed on the floor.
We come here to hang out, enjoy good food, and listen to live music, which makes for a perfect chill brunch idea on a Sunday.
📍 1500 Griffith Park Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Friday : 10 AM - 3:30 PM
Saturday : 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Sunday : 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Located in the hip Sunset area, this market is excellent for finding vinyl, antiques, and vintage clothing. If shopping here isn't enough cardio, head over to Echo Park just a couple of blocks away and get in more steps as you make the loop around the park while your pup "hunts" for ducks.

📍 Marshall High School, 3939 Tracy St, Los Angeles, CA 90027
Saturday : 11 AM - 5 PM
Hosted by VintageLand LA, this Saturday market is more than just a shopping destination - it's an entertainment hub. It also features pickleball courts, tattoo shops, an indoor skate park, a VR escape room, and a rooftop pet area.
📍 1570 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91106
Sunday : 8 AM - 3 PM (first Sunday of every month)
Held monthly, this large-scale flea market spans multiple levels and is known for rare finds and collectibles. Indulge in tamales, tacos, and the cuteness of the adoptable pups from Pasadena Humane who are always in attendance.
📍 3223 Donald Douglas Loop S, Santa Monica, CA 90405
This market is ideal for serious antique collectors and design enthusiasts. From fashion finds to one-of-a-kind pieces, statement jewelry, and even textiles, there's always something for everyone here.
Tips for Bringing Your Dog to a Farmers or Flea Market
Tip 1 : Know your pup
Markets can get loud and crowded. If your dog gets overwhelmed easily, try to go early before the rush. You can also start by taking 5-10 minutes to stand and observe from the side, allowing your pup to calm down instead of directly weaving through the crowd.
Tip 2 : Bring Water
Although these places have food vendors, it's always best to bring your own water and a portable water bowl especially in the summer.
Tip 3 : Keep an eye on your pup
Some vendors sell foods that are toxic to dogs, so be sure to avoid any sneaky snacking. While I will never grab a sample or food products on the table, the ground is always free for all and trust me, there are plenty of crumbs there. One time, a kid dropped her ice cream and I almost inhaled it.
Tip 4 : Clean after your pup
Always pick up after your dog and make sure it doesn't mark any of the vendor booths. Let's make sure we don't leave any surprises for other visitors, so we can continue to explore these places. Before I head out to my sniffaris, I always go on a 15-minute walk so I can take care of business and not expose myself to taking a big dump in the middle of a big crowd.
Tip 5 : Use a 6-foot leash
Most markets require non-retractable leashes for safety. It really makes it easier to manage your pup when it tries to pull off a snack heist or gets agitated with the way the other pup made eye contact. Whether it's a market, a pet-friendly dining spot, or any other pet-friendly location, it's always best to keep your pup on a short leash.
Tip 6 : Reward good behavior
Bring some training treats to reward good behavior. It's a win-win outing when you and your pup both had a great time, so make sure your pup knows they did a great job. I always get a high-pitched good boy with a head scratch when I don't growl at big dogs when I'm outside.
One thing to note: if your pup loves treats as much as I do, make sure to reward them away from the crowd and other pups so they can enjoy the reward in peace.
Tip 7 : Check the weather
Final tip, always check the weather before you go and make sure your pup is dressed appropriately. In the summer, the hot pavement can hurt our paws, so make sure you apply some paw wax or even better, make us wear a stylish pair of boots. You can also get a cooling bandana to ensure your pup still looks stylish while feeling fresh.
Shopping small and supporting local businesses is even better when your pup can join in the fun. Whether you're looking for fresh produce, handmade jewelry or a vintage shirt to match your pup's cool style, LA's markets are filled with possibilities.
